Faculty in the Department of Labor Studies and Employment Relations study all aspects of work and the employment relationship. Since the Department's founding in 1942, we have provided research, teaching, and outreach to a diverse group of current and future leaders. As part of a dynamic field, we address the many challenges facing employees and employers, including:
- globalization
- new work and family pressures
- the changing role of unions
- growing workforce diversity
- new methods of resolving conflicts
- new technologies and ways of organizing work.
The Department offers a range of options for study, including traditional undergraduate and graduate programs, distance learning courses, and non-credit workshops and conferences. Our numerous alumni include distinguished practitioners in management, labor, government, and public service organizations.
