Daniel Hawkins is a Post-Doc scholar in the project for Global Workers' Rights. Daniel holds a PhD in Political Science and a Masters Degree in Global Political Economy, both from the University of Kassel, Germany. He is the author of The Struggles over City-Space: Informal Street Vending & Public Space Governance in Medellin, Colombia, published in 2011 by NOMOS Verlagsgesellschaft. Daniel's research focuses on informal workers in the global economy, trade unions in Latin America, and state reconfigurations in the era of globalisation. Prior to arriving at Penn State University, Daniel worked as a researcher at the National Trade Union School of Colombia (ENS).
