UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Penn State’s School of Labor and Employment Relations recently had four representatives travel to the World Congress of Labor and Employment Relations, held July 23-27 in Seoul, South Korea.

Hosted every three years by the International Labour and Employment Relations Association (ILERA), the event brings together more than 1,000 members of the organization, including professors and professionals, who gather to discuss new ideas about developments, ideas and practices within the field labor and employment relations.

The Penn State delegation included Paul Clark, director of the School of Labor and Employment Relations; associate professors Mark Anner and Elaine Farndale; and assistant teaching professor Bora Kwon. At the event Anner was elected to the ILERA Executive Board to represent North America. This is the first time a Penn State faculty member has been elected to this position.

Anner also presented his research on labor and global workers’ rights to all participants in a plenary session. In total, the Penn State contingent presented six papers, chaired two sessions, served as the discussant in one session, and spoke at one plenary session. In addition, Mark Gough, assistant professor in the School of Labor and Employment Relations, had a paper presented at the Congress by a co-author.
