LER Outreach Programs
The LABOR SCHOOL is Penn State University’s outreach program to the Pennsylvania labor movement. The LABOR SCHOOL is based on the idea that union leaders need to be informed and knowledgeable to perform the critical role they play in the U.S. system of labor-management relations. The program exists to provide low-cost education and training programs for unions in Pennsylvania.
The Academy of Human Capital Development is the LER School’s outreach program for management human resource and employment relations practitioners. The Academy’s mission is to provide professional development opportunities that will enable HRER practitioners to engage in the most effective and progressive practices and policies. These programs included webinars, workshops, eLearning and on-site HR management training. The School has been designated as a pre-approved provider of Human Resource Certification Institute (HRCI) programs so all of these learning opportunities are approved by the HRCI and will qualify as recertification credits toward the PHR, SPHR and GPHR certifications.
