Human Resources Coordinator


Essential Duties And Responsibilities


    • The Human Resources Coordinator is a key member ofGrant Thornton’s People & Culture Operations team and shared servicesinfrastructure providing delivery and support for HR operational matters. This role will support firm-wide and regionalHR/Talent goals and objectives, demonstrating flexibility, adaptability andinitiative in the execution of duties while ensuring compliance with risk andregulatory matters.


      The HR Coordinator role will reside in Charlotte,NC and will provide transactional and operational support to Grant Thornton’s CaliforniaMarket Territory HR/Talent regional team. Aligned around efficiency and deliveryexcellence, the HR Coordinator will provide prompt, efficient and distinctiveservice to internal clients in response to transactional and operational eventsoccurring throughout the employee life cycle.


      Core Responsibilities


    • Provides support to HR Business Partners, operatingtypically at a transactional level and responds appropriately to time-sensitiveHR/Talent needs.
    • Processes HR/Talent life cycle transactions forassigned geography including new hire processing/onboarding, initial review of backgroundchecks and escalating questions as needed, processing approved compensationchanges and bonus awards, processing status-changes, preparing paperwork forjob requistions and employee transfers and exits.
    • Act as initial point of contact to respond toquestions regarding various benefits programs, education assistance and otherfirm policies. Escalate to HRBPs andNational Benefits on potential risk matters (FMLA, CFRA, ADA, etc).
    • May act as liaison in Leaves of Absenceadministration with national benefits team, including tracking of protectedleaves.
    • Administer Workers Comp Claims and OSHA reportingunder general direction of Safety Team.
    • Provides support to the HR/Talent embedded Talent teamand business stakeholders in collecting, compiling and coordinating informationand helping implement local tasks and programs.
    • Assists embedded HR/Talent team with coordinationfor planning and roll-out of annual recurring HR/Talent programs such asperformance management, compensation planning, and other non-recurring project-relatedwork throughout the year.
    • Interfaces with other HR/Talent functional areassuch as compensation/benefits, payroll, mobility, talent acquisition, HRanalytics in support of assigned geography.
    • Working as a team, makes suggestions for efficiencyand effective responsiveness into existing operations. Works proactively, anticipating and addressingneeds, and collaborating with HRBPs before they are raised by our clients.
    • Coordinates with HR analytics function to ensurecollection and distribution of standard reports on HR/Talent metrics to supportvarious business compliance needs such as compliance tracking for Independence,CPE, time policies, spotlights, partner scorecards, certifications, CPA passbonus eligibility and processing, collection of NDNS agreements , AICPAmembership, PCAOB compliance, etc.
    • Coordinates and drafts communications recognizingnew hires, exits, promotions and other life cycle events as approved.
    • Ensures compliance with GT HR/Talent policies andcompliance initiatives; coordinates maintenance of required legal postings and personnel files.


Theideal Candidate Will Be


Qualifications (Personal Characteristics,Skills/Abilities, Academic):


    • A business-minded administrativeprofessional with at least two years’ experience in an HR Coordinator orspecialist role with demonstrated ability to thrive in a culture that iscollaborative, service-oriented, and consultative.
    • A strong team player with theability to build good relationships with key stakeholders.
    • Credible, adaptable, and someone who demonstrates strong initiative andownership.
    • Highly professional, results driven, with strong desire to continuelearning to broaden knowledge, insight, and perspective.
    • Ableto prioritize and be effective in supporting remote clients and multipleHR/Talent leaders as needed. Collaborative and action-oriented, with ability to react positively andquickly to sudden and unpredictable change.
    • Experienced with HR and business technologies and applications,applying them as required.
    • Ability to recognize potential problems and risk areas and escalatethem to HRBPs and supervisors.
    • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
    • Ability to work alternate schedule (9:30 am EST to 6:30 pm EST) to supportwest coast client.


The Ideal Candidate Will Possess


    • Minimum2 years associate degree or equivalent work experience; bachelor’s degree aplus.
    • Past experience functioning as an HR Coordinator, preferably withinconsulting or professional services environment.
    • Exposure to federal and California state employment/labor and benefitleave laws a plus.
    • Proven ability to consistently and positively contribute in ahigh-paced environment.
    • Strong verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
    • A reputation for discretion, integrity, judgment, responsiveness, and strongattention to detail.
    • SolidPC skills with proficiency in MS Office including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
