Limerick, Ireland

Ireland is a land of great beauty and friendly people. Limerick is a small, medieval city with one of the youngest populations in Ireland. Located on the Shannon River in the mid-western region of the country, Limerick is ideally situated a couple of hours from Dublin and less than an hour from Ireland's scenic southweatern coast (including the Ring of Kerry and Dingle Bay).

University of Limerick

The University campus is set in 450 acres of beautiful parkland on the banks of the River Shannon. The University provides more on-site residence accommodation than any University in Ireland and boasts one of the finest sports and recreation facilities in Europe. Over 12, 000 students study at the University.

Study Abroad at University of Limerick

The Study Abroad program at UL is well established and includes students from the U.S. and around the world. Visiting students are fully integrated into the student body and participate in the same courses and seminars as Irish students. UL has many cultural, arts, and sports activities available to study abroad students. The study abroad programs is available in either the fall or spring semesters. The best time to study abroad is in your 6th or 7th semester. Arrangements to do so need to be made roughly a year in advance, so it is not too early to begin thinking about studying in Ireland.

Labor Studies and Employment Relations at Limerick

The Businness School at UL offers a number of industrial relations/human resources courses that can substitute for PSU LSIR major requirements. Student should be able to take a sufficient number of credits to enable to graduate on schedule with an LSIR major.

Finances

With the exception of travel costs, a semester at the University of Limerick should not cost more than a semester at University Park. The Department has a limited amount of travel grants to assist students with travel costs. For more information, please see the Charlie Bowers Study Abroad Award.
