"While it may seem a little odd to send your resume to complete strangers for suggestions, the alumni in the LSER Department really take the time to make your resume (and cover letter) the best it can be! Advisors and parents are wonderful resources, but someone who is currently working in a field of interest to you is able to give more accurate and valuable feedback. It may seem a little scary, but the alumni are there to help us. For example, I sent my resume to two people and within two days heard responses from them. I was surprised to see so many suggestions (one alum even returned my resume with all of his suggestions in red – and there was a lot of red), but thrilled that they were all constructive.
