Catherine A. Rein is president and chief executive officer of MetLife Auto and Home, which is the personal lines casualty subsidiary of Metropolitan Life Insurance Company.
Ms. Rein joined MetLife in 1985 as vice-president in charge of the human resources department. She was named a senior vice-president in 1988, an executive vice-president in 1989 and a senior executive vice-president in February 1998.

Before joining MetLife, she served as vice-president and general counsel for The Continental Group, Inc. Before Continental, she was associated with the New York City law firm of Dewey, Ballantine, Bushby, Palmer & Wood.
Ms. Rein received her B.A. degree, summa cum laude, from Pennsylvania State University in 1965, and her J.D. degree, cum laude, from New York University in 1968.
John Shultz Sr. joined the "International Association of Theatrical and Stage Employees" union in August 1939.
She presently serves on the board of directors of New England Financial, The Bank of New York, Inc., Corning Inc., and GPU, Inc. Ms. Rein is a member of the board of trustees of New York University Law Center Foundation and of INROADS New York. She is also a member of the American Bar Association, the New York State Bar Association and the Association of the Bar of the City of New York.
Ms. Rein resides in New York City.
